Lime Tree Hyrolate – Tilia cordata Flower Water (extract) - 250ml

Flower Tales Lime Tree Hydrolate is obtained by ultrasound assisted extraction from flowers of Tilia cordata, commonly known as lime tree (unrelated to the citrus fruit)

It can be considered as a proper extract and not just as a simple aromatic water.

Lime tree can stimulate the production of sebum, so it is particularly indicated for very dry, stressed skin. The mucilage and polysaccharides contained in this hydrolate form a light humectant film that keeps the outermost layer of the skin moisturised and elastic.

It has soothing and calming properties, it is well tolerated by sensitive or irritated skin and it’s widely used in the production of feminine washes. It mitigates aggressive surfactants and can be used instead of water in the creation of mild shower gels and shampoos.

It is used on damaged or brittle hair products: it forms a protective and hydrating film on the hair, leaving it smooth and shiny.

FLOWER TALES QUALITY: Unlike most flower waters, Flower Lime Tree Hydrolate is not obtained by distillation, but by ultrasound assisted extraction. This modern extraction process gives a herbal water that is richer in active compounds, without damaging those that are thermolabile (easily destroyed by heat). No alcohol or solvents are used in the process: only water. Ultrasound assisted extraction uses less energy than distillation and is a sustainable, environmentally-friendly technology.

No extraction process is substitute for quality of the raw material: we selected an Italian supplier to guarantee superior quality, traceability and a short chain. The flowers of Tilia cordata are harvested in June and July, when they are not yet fully blossomed. They are then naturally air dried. The lime trees are grown in the cool climate of the Piedmont region of Italy.

Flower Tales Lime Tre Hydrosol is a natural product and its bacterial count must be kept in check with the use of preservatives and stabilisers. A completely “green” solution such as benzyl alcohol+sodium benzoate+potassium sorbate could be poorly tolerated by some individuals, especially for an everyday product such as floral water. We therefore opted for a mix containing phenoxyethanol, which while not considered 100% natural, is completely safe and well tolerated even by very sensitive skin. For transparency, we show here the full list of ingredients, including those in minimal quantities which would not normally be listed: Tilia cordata Flower Water, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Tetrasodium glutamate diacetate
